British Baby Box is absolutely delighted to announce that it has teamed up with a charity which supports vulnerable women in Watford.
Alternatives Watford is a pregnancy support and crisis centre which provides pregnancy testing, unplanned pregnancy support, counselling for postnatal depression and emotional and practical guidance to women after miscarriage and abortion.
They recently launched a Baby Box scheme to provide starter kits to teen mums, refugees and asylum seekers, the homeless, those living in temporary accommodation and claiming universal credit.
And British Baby Box was picked as the provider of the beds, which come with a brand new mattress and a sheet and blanket.
Angela Such, the Manager of Alternatives Watford Pregnancy Crisis and Support Centre said: “We continue to offer life-changing emotional and practical support for anyone facing pregnancy-related challenges and we are delighted to be able to offer this very tangible support to mums-to-be in our community.
“The Baby Box takes up less space than a cot or a crib, and together with a brand new mattress, offers possibly the best place for a new born baby to sleep.
“On top of this, the Baby Boxes will be stuffed full of other essential items for the first few months of a baby’s life – such as sleep suits, vests, cardigans, bibs, blankets, towels, nappies, toiletries and a teddy.
“The Baby Box and the items inside will save a great deal of money in the first few months of a baby’s life and ensure that all babies have the essential items they need.”
Baby Boxes will be given to any mum-to-be who is 32+ weeks pregnant and meets at least one of the following criteria:
Claiming Universal CreditHomeless/Living in Temporary AccommodationRefugee/Asylum SeekerUnder 16-years-old
All Baby Boxes will be supplied by British Baby Box.
Susan Purse from British Baby Box said: “We firmly believe each and every baby is precious and deserves the best start in life.
“We are thrilled to be working with Alternatives Watford to reach some of the most vulnerable women in their community and ensure more babies, regardless of background, have a safe place to sleep.”
